Lizzy Evelyn

Lizzy’s inspiration draws heavily from experience and seasonality, depending on what is in bloom and what flavors and textures appeal to her.  A Washington DC native, one  of Lizzy's favorite childhood places was her parents' garden, picking fresh herbs, strawberries, or tomatoes, straight off the vine.  Her style and approach to food today pay tribute to those early memories.

Lizzy attended American University, where she earned a B.A. in Graphic Design and a Minor in Fine Arts in 1998. As Evelyn pursued her career as a graphic designer, she found she longed for creating in a kitchen environment. Realizing that her true passion was not for the drawn arts, but rather the culinary arts, she decided to attend the Pastry Arts Program at L’Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, MD, where she graduated in 2002.

Following graduation, Lizzy joined the Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown Washington, DC, where she further honed her skills.  Another path then led her to Café Saint-Ex which opened their doors in 2003, placing Lizzy in a smaller, more intimate kitchen, allowing her creativity to grow into an impressive dessert menu.
